Bowels are directly connected to the central nervous system through the vagus nerve, which is part of the so-called gut-brain axis. Communication is bidirectional, but approximately 90% of the signals go FROM the intestines TO the brain, and only 10% of nerve impulses go the other way.
Every day, the central nervous system receives a huge amount of information from the intestines, where, among others: – with the participation of appropriate bacteria – 90% of serotonin present in the body is produced – the neurotransmitter “happiness hormone”.
The network of nerve cells located in the intestine controls, among others: digestion processes, absorption of nutrients, plays a leading role in reactions to stressful situations, and serotonin produced in the intestines additionally participates in the regulation of sleep, libido levels, pain signaling… This is why it is so important providing the body with live bacterial cultures (of the Lactobacillus genus), and fiber. Probiotic bacteria and fiber care for the balance of flora and intestinal motor activity, and thus for our well-being, immunity, health and state of mind.
There is a visible tendency to constipation and flatulence in the digestive system – the relaxation of smooth muscles in the intestines slows down peristalsis and increases the risk of developing large intestine diverticula. All this affects our well-being, concentration and immunity. This is why:
Meals should be eaten regularlyit is better to eat 4-5 meals a day.
Avoiding foods with a high glycemic index (GI). – including vegetables in every meal, whole grain products instead of refined ones, limiting sugar and sweets – reduces post-meal glucose levels and prevents hyper-insulinemia – which prevents weight gain and type II diabetes. If the diet is low in fiber, we can use Nopalin before meals, and to improve our mood, instead of sweets, we can reach for Cocoa Bean Extract.
Salt restriction – a low-sodium diet and herbs and natural spices prevent water retention, swelling and hypertension. This does not mean that we should completely remove salt from our lives. Salt is an electrolyte and is responsible for many biological processes. Use only unprocessed natural salt because refined salt is harmful to your health! There are many types of salt on the market: sea salt (unrefined), rock salt, crystal salt of Himalayan origin.
Drinking water regularly – preferably lukewarm or warm 1.5-2 liters a day – Water has a positive effect on the acid-base balance and helps remove body toxins.
Physical activity – accelerates metabolism, strengthens muscles, slims the figure, and provides oxygen.
Eat slowly, chew carefully, avoid stress – Living in a hurry and swallowing meals is a popular “activity”. This is not healthy for us, it is very important to eat a meal calmly and chew thoroughly.
Antioxidants: : vitamins A, C, E, coenzyme q10, biofavonoids (resveratrol) – anti-aging effect, beneficial effect on the circulatory system, eyesight, skin, bones, joints.
vitamin d3 – essential for the entire body – especially important for the immune system, bones and immunity. In the latitude where Poland is located, 80-90% of the population is deficient in vitamin D3 from September to April. It is worth monitoring the level of the active metabolite of vitamin D3: 25-OH-D in the blood. Read more about vitamin D3
B vitamins – nervous system, circulatory system – in case of folic acid or vitamin b12 deficiency, it is worth controlling the level of homocysteine in the blood, which may cause changes in blood vessels. Digestive system diseases and intestinal dysbiosis may result in impaired absorption of B vitamins.
minerals – calcium, magnesium, zinc, selenium – in case of deficiencies in the diet, supplementation is recommended. Power Mins
probiotics and prebiotics – beneficial effect on the digestive system and ultimately our immunity. Friendly Probiotic Bacteria as a supplement
