From a technical perspective, stress can be defined as the amount of resistance offered by a material being transformed and processed. When we can no longer resist the forces that try to “mold” us, we become nervous, depressed, and unable to cope.
Sources of stress are everywhere. Social stressors affect ours emotional health. However, biochemical factors, e.g. pesticides, free radicals, and metabolic by-products, wreak havoc inside our bodies. When you are under stress of any kind, the body activates the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, which regulates our “fight” or “flight” system inherited from our ancient ancestors, releasing stress hormones from the adrenal glands into the blood. Adrenaline and norepinephrine released into the blood give us a boost of energy so that we can fight or escape in times of danger.
We are well prepared for short-term stress. It triggers the “fight or flight” response. The normal response is then to engage in physical activity and aim to reduce the level of adrenaline and norepinephrine. To do this, the body uses additional energy. If the level of muscle activity (walking, running, gymnastics) is too low and the break in adrenaline activity is too long, we begin to experience symptoms of fatigue and weakness. If the body does not use energy in a short period of time, the body uses excess energy from fat and glycogen stores.
We are much less prepared for chronic stress, and it leads to an emotional state and symptoms: muscle tension, apathy, anxiety attacks, problems with blood pressure and maintaining proper blood sugar levels. An environment is created for the development of chronic diseases.
Stress cannot be avoided, it is related to our entire life and accompanies every process of action and thinking. However, we can protect our body against the destructive effects of stress by using adaptogenic plants. It is a very effective plant from this group Rhodiola rosea, which maintains or restores the body’s natural balance without disturbing its functions.
My observations show that many people take advantage of the wonderful properties of this plant as a preventive measure:
- The largest group are women during menopause – Rhodiola rosea prevents mood swings, strengthens the immune system and regulates the rhythm of sleep and wakefulness. In a word, alleviate and eliminate health complications, helping you survive these difficult periods.
- People who lost their loved ones for various reasons or after breakups avoided anxiety disorders, apathy and depression thanks to this plant. They do not withdraw and it applies to full social roles.
- It can also be successfully used by students exposed to exam stress, as confirmed by the following research:
“Students took 50 mg of Rhodiola rosea extract for 20 days. After this time, there was a significant improvement in physical ability and a reduction in mental fatigue. Self-assessment of general well-being was also better in the group of people taking Rhodiola rosea extract.”
“After just 2 weeks of taking Rhodiola rosea, there was a significant improvement in test results – general mental fatigue was assessed, including cognitive and perceptual brain functions, such as association, short-term memory, counting, ability to concentrate and speed of audio-visual perception. The results of this study indicate that Rhodiola rosea root extract reduces fatigue in stressful conditions and also improves the ability to concentrate.”Rhodiola rosea is a unique, anti-stress adaptive plant. Therefore, I recommend a dietary supplement that has been proven in my professional work and is needed by everyone (including people studying and starting their studies). Rhodiolin. The finished preparation contains the appropriate proportions of active substances: Rhodiola rosea root extract, enriched with zincthat will help us gently cope with reality.
