3. Why Calivita did you choose exactly these types of oils in your range?
Because lemon is one of the most common, lavender is one of the most popular, and frankincense essential oil is one of the most valued and precious essential oils.
4. Are the essential oils of Calivita are they certified?
Each of these three organic essential oil products is certified organic. This means that each product meets the strict rules for obtaining a certificate: they do not contain chemicals, pesticides and other impurities.
5. What makes essential oils of Calivita top quality?
The organic essential oil products of Calivita are 100% pure. Unlike some market participants who offer fake or synthetic oils made in a laboratory, our essential oils are natural and contain all the necessary certificates for this, they do not contain solvents, alcohol, artificial colors, artificial fragrances and more.
6. How do you get precious oils from their raw materials?
A special process is used to extract the actives from the plant parts (root, stem, leaf, seed) and freshly harvested plants are always used. The way they are produced allows to preserve all the volatile components that the plants contain in high concentrations, therefore our products have a high content of active ingredients.
Ours lavender oil it is obtained from fresh herb by steam distillation. In the production process, the lavender plant is exposed to water vapor under pressure, in this way the essential oil is released from the plant and mixed with the vapor. In the next stage, the steam is condensed in a system of cold pipes and in this way the precious essential oil is separated from the water.
The ethereal frankincense oil it is obtained from the resin of the frankincense tree (Boswellia), the trunk and branches are cut to release a viscous liquid that hardens into a resin. The resin oil is then extracted using a steam distillation method. It takes 10-20 kilograms of resin to produce one liter of frankincense essential oil!
Lemon oil it is obtained from the peel of a lemon, which is rich in essential oils. A process known as “cold pressing” is used to extract them instead of steam distillation to preserve the active components. To make one liter of lemon essential oil, it takes the peel of about 3,000 lemons!
7. What is the difference between vegetable oils and essential oils?
Vegetable oils, or base oils (such as almond or jojoba oil, etc.), are obtained from the oily parts of plants, eg, seeds, or nuts, by grinding. Essential oils, on the other hand, usually come from non-oily parts (such as bark or roots) or aromatic parts of plants and are extracted mainly by steam distillation. It is for this reason that essential oils contain the volatile components of plants in high concentrations and therefore a few drops of essential oils are enough to get all the benefits.
8. What to look for when buying essential oils?
When buying essential oils, you need to make sure that you are choosing quality products from reliable sources. Counterfeit or synthetic oils made in laboratories often contain active ingredients in a cheap, diluted form, and they also contain additives, solvents, alcohol and artificial fragrances. Adulteration of the most expensive essential oils is common: for example, rose oil is often diluted with alcohol; lavender is often replaced with Spanish sage; the precious bitter almond is often substituted for the synthetic benzaldehyde.
Unlike such products, the natural, plant-based, certified organic essential oils of Calivita are 100% pure.
9. Are essential oils safe to use?
The use of good quality essential oils from reliable sources is completely safe, provided you always follow the directions on the label.
A counterfeit or impure essential oil may not only be less beneficial, but may also pose a risk of irritation and side effects resulting from impurities, including heavy metals, that may enter the body.
10. What should be observed when using essential oils?
Essential oils contain the active ingredients in a concentrated form. Therefore, to use them you will need to dilute them by adding a few drops of a “carrier” oil (such as a good quality vegetable oil) or the body lotion you use, in order to avoid irritation. The carrier oil helps the active substances to be more easily absorbed by your skin, and also slows down the evaporation of the essential oil and protects the sensitive skin.
To enjoy all the benefits that essential oils provide and to make sure that your skin will not be irritated, do a test on a small part of your skin to see if any adverse reaction occurs.
If any type of allergic reaction occurs (eg redness) there are other ways to use the product (for example, instead of rubbing it on the skin, add a few drops to water in a diffuser) or replace it with another essential oil that will be recommended to you.
Avoid contact with eyes! Lemon oil is known to cause phototoxicity, so avoid exposure to sunlight after applying this product.
11. How to use essential oils?

- Use them in a sauna or in a spa (steam bath),
- Add them to a cold or hot wrap,
- Use them for inhalation,

For inhalation, diffusion or use in your bath, add a few drops of essential oil of choice to water.

16. Are household essential oils dangerous to pets?
If used correctly, in accordance with the instructions, essential oils do not pose a danger to pets.
17. How long can essential oils be used?
Properly stored (ie tightly sealed, in a dark bottle kept in a cool, dark place, away from sunlight) lemon essential oil can be kept for 3 years and lavender and frankincense essential oils can be kept for 5 years.
However, once the bottle is opened, it is recommended to use the product within 18 months. This is because with each opening, contact with air oxidizes the essential oils, and oxidation can change the aroma, viscosity and affect the quality of the active components.
